Cape Town access control system installers
At B & L services we believe that access control systems forms a critical part of any security strategy, as they can help you manage your home or organisation’s risks associated with unauthorised access and physical security breaches.
There are mainly 2 types of access control methods and technologies available that can be integrated into your security system set-up and with the advent of AI integration and machine learning can form part of your smart home or office.
They are:
Physical access control systems:
These systems are used to restrict physical entry to property, homes, buildings, rooms, or specific areas within a facility. They can include card readers, keypads, biometric scanners (such as fingerprint or retina scans), and electronic locks. Access control mechanisms can also be integrated with video surveillance systems to monitor and record who enters and exits certain areas.
Biometric access control systems:
These systems use unique physical or behavioural characteristics, such as fingerprints, iris scans, or facial recognition, to verify a person’s identity. These systems are highly secure because they are difficult to forge.
At B & L Services we can design entire security systems, based on a discovery meeting or consultation with you. Typical things that needs to be considered are: Guidelines to follow when you are ready for access control.
- The type of security you need
- The size of your property, home or business
- The budget you have available
- The level of technology you need

Access control system pricing
A typical biometric system price can start anywhere from R10 000 and up – depending on the size and composition of your system. An important factor to keep in mind is you may need to have power backup installed to ensure the system stays functional during power blackouts or load-shedding. There are few integration limits with digital biometric systems such as they can’t integrate with older types of security systems. Regular software and hardware systems maintenance will ensure smooth operation.
A physical access controll system with remotes/tags or access cards is more cost effective and the price point typically starts at under R10 000 for a basic system with power backup. Physical systems will require regular maintenance and you may need to replace lost access devices from time to time or change them regularly as your access needs change. Phycial access systems can integrate with both modern and older security systems.
We invite you to speak to our expert about how you can add access control options to your security systems.
